SLM 3D Printing Technology

SLM, the full name of selectivelasermelting, is mainly used in molds, dentures, medical, aerospace, etc.
Metal 3D printing is equipped with 500W fiber laser, with collimation system and high-precision scanning galvanometer, fine spot and optical quality can be obtained, so SLM metal 3D printing has high forming accuracy.
SLM technology is a technology in which pure metal powder is completely melted under the heat of a laser beam and formed by cooling and solidification. SLM technology generally needs to add support structures. Its main functions are: first, to undertake the next unmolded powder layer , to prevent the laser scanning to the excessively thick metal powder layer and collapse. Second, after the powder is heated, melted and cooled during the molding process, there is shrinkage stress inside, causing the parts to warp, etc. The support structure connects the formed part and the unformed part, It can effectively suppress this shrinkage, and can control the stress balance of the molded parts, and the strength of the product is higher than that of SLS.
In the process of metal 3D printing, in order to prevent the oxidation of metal powder and air, it needs to be carried out in an inert gas (oxygen-free) environment.
The main materials for SLM 3D printing are titanium alloy, stainless steel, aluminum alloy, cobalt-chromium alloy, die steel, etc.
